La chiamavano "l'americana" - They used to call her "the american"

:-) certo che avere un soprannome è sempre un piacere, ma devo dire che nel mio caso lo porto anche con grande orgoglio. L'Americana in realtà non si riferisce tanto al mio inglese (visto che ho accento prettamente e assolutamente real london english), ma quanto sul lavoro perchè , oltre a ringraziare sempre nostra santa Martha, mi affido a molti fornitori proprio dagli Usa.

:-D ma come si fa a resistere alla tentazione di collaborare con una persona geniale che produce questi meravigliosi inviti?

oppure questa altra ragazza che propone questi cake topper assolutamente deliziosi?

Ma si puo? ;-) per me è quasi impossibile devo riconoscerlo. Vuoi la facilità di comunicare con tutto il mondo grazie ad internet, vuoi perchè bene o male la conoscenza dell'inglese ti apre le porte ovunque..e vuoi che mi piacciono da impazzire queste cose..:-) io ho sempre buona parte di un matrimonio "made in usa".

In realtà dalla Martha e dalle sue innumerevoli e preziose colleghe ho imparato praticamente tutto su come gestire le coppie e come comunicare con loro; sembra un compito facile , ma non lo è per niente.

:-) è per questo che oggi regalo , a chiunque di voi abbia deciso di avvalersi di una wp, il mio personale decalodo dei 3 aspetti "must" per i primi approcci ad un/una wp.

1° E' d'obbligo un incontro di persona, non vi fidate di chi vi racconta tutto per telefono. Io personalmente ho molti contratti "magnolia on-line" , cioè aiuto molte coppie nell'organizzazione del loro matrimonio solo via email o telefonica, ma faccio sempre e ripeto SEMPRE un incontro con loro di persona al momento della conferma dell'incarico. Vi ho sempre detto: guardate negli occhi la vostra/o wp e capirete subito se è "fatta per voi" :-).

2° Dopo un breve colloquio con la/il wp che la/lo aiuterà a studiare meglio la vostra situazione e a calibrare per voi un piano di "attaco" :-P , passatemi il termine, iniziate voi con le domande. Chiedetele come opera, come si organizza di solito per i matrimoni, quali sono le cose più urgenti da fare, ma chiedetele anche di se' , della sua vita e....guardatela: imparate a leggere i segni del suo corpo e della sua espressione.

Fate attenzione alla posizione con cui sta seduta: troppo rigida è segno di nervosismo, troppo relax ..non va bene comunque..non siamo a casa a fare la pennichella :-).

Fate attenzione all'inclinazione della testa: se tende sempre con la testa verso sinistra..ok è un tipo molto organizzato e pratico, se è verso destra..è ok comunque perchè tende ad avere molto senso istintivo e creativo.

Fate attenzione al tono della voce: non deve essere troppo squillante..:-D insomma non vi deve urlare negli orecchi..ne troppo sottovoce..non siamo mica in Chiesa, una parlantina tranquilla e rilassata, che vi tranquillizza già dal suono della voce e che vi incanta con la sua calma e self control. Questa è la qualità più apprezzata in una persona che dovrà gestire il vostro giorno più importante.

Ahhh..mi raccomando..che sia una persona che guarda negli occhi e non da un'altra parte, magari non è così , ma da' l'impressione di pensare a tutt'altro e questo non è corretto per l'importanza del cliente e dell'evento.

3° Chiedete senza troppi scrupoli la fatidica domandona ;-) "ma quanto mi costi mamma mia?" :-D, potrà non essere precisa subito, ma non deve neanche tergiversare ed essere confusionaria e caotica nella risposta.

Tono deciso e sereno, guai ai wp che si scusano della propria parcella o titubano, nessuno lavora gratis..quello si chiama "hobby" :-P

Rileggendo devo dire che questi consigli sono preziosi anche per qualsiasi altro colloquio...quindi spero sia utile a più persone possibili.

Detto questo se è una fan di Martha o se preferisce altre guru, questo poco importa al fine della serietà, una brava wp secondo me deve essere disposta anche a contattare il polo nord per esaudire i vostri desideri :-D

:-) a surname for sure is a funny thing, but I have to admit that in my case I "wear" it with great proud. "The American" actually is not referred to my english (which is very very london style english), but is referred to my job because not only I have thank my Saint Martha every day, but I also use lots of vendors from the Us for my weddings.

How can I? ;-) for me it's almost impossible I have to admit it. Maybe it's the easy comunication with all the world through internet, maybe because good or not the knowledge of english opens you all the doors around the world...and maybe 'cause I adore all these little unique and special things from our Us cousins...but at the end half of my weddings are "made in Usa"!

Actually from Martha and the other important gurus of weddings I've learned almost everything on how to contact costumers and how to relate to them in the best way possible; it seems an easy job , but believe me it's not. :-) It's for this reason that today I give you , meaning all the couples who have decided to have the collaboration of a wp for their wedding, my personal 3 "must" for the firsts approaches with a wp.

1° A meeting is important and a real "must". Don't trust someone who wants to "sell you" his/her work only by phone. I've got severals "Magnolia-online" contracts, which means that I follow several couples in the organization and planning of their weddings through emails, messenger and phone, but I always and I repeat ALWAYS meet them at least once when they confirm me the contract. I've always told you: look in her/his eyes and you'll see if she/he "fits" you.

2° After a quick interview with your wp where he/she will ask you some important things about you and your dreams to realize in the best way possible your wedding, it will be your turn to ask. Ask how he/she works, how it will be organized the event and which is the method of planning that she/he uses, but ask also her/him about his/her life, his/her job in general. ..and look at her/him : learn to read the body language and the face language.

Pay attention on how she/he is sitting..if it's too rigid means that she is nervous, too much relax..is not good in the same way..you are not at home watching telly ;-)

Pay attention to the inclination of the head, if it tends on the left...ok it's a well organized and meticolous persons, if it tends on the right it's a very creative persons.

Pay attention to the voice tone: it should has to be too shrill...:-D in short he/she doesn't have to scream in your ears..nor too softly..you are not in a Church, a quiet and relaxed chat, a person who calm you with the tone of the voice and enchants you with her/his calm and self control. And this is one of the most important aspects of the person who will organize your event.

Ahhh...I reccomend you to pay attention also to her/his eyes. She/he has to look dirctly in your eyes and not somewhere else, maybe she/he is real interested but it seems that he/she is not looking in another direction and it's not correct for the importance of the costumers and their event.

3° Ask without having fear the famous big question :-) " how much is your fee?" :-D maybe she/he will not be 100% exact immediately but she/he doesn't have to hesitate answering and moreover he/she has to be clear and sure. A secure and resolute tone of voice, look out with those who apologize for their prices and fees, no one works for free..that is called "hobby" :-P.

Well..to tell you the truth these points are valid for every kind of meeting so..i hope it's usefull for lots of you!

And after all if she is fanatic of Martha or of others precious collegues, it doesn't really matter to the seriousness of the wp, a good wp in my opinion has to be ready to contact even the North Pole to realize the wishes of the couple :-D.

:-)..but could I leave you today without this fantastic little idea for a special favor..this little cute wedding cake..just unique!

Perchè? - Why?

Buongiorno e buon Lunedì a tutti! come vi ho detto ieri, mi scuso ancora con tutti per la mia assenza e ringrazio chi mi ha scritto per assicurarsi che io stessi bene..o addirittura mi ha chiamato per tranquillizzarsi.;-) vero Grazia un bacio a te splendida! Ci sono delle volte in cui per poter portare a termine i propri impegni si deve fare il sacrificio di annullare tutto il resto altrimenti diventa difficile se non impossibile terminare nei giusti tempi e farlo nei migliori dei modi. Comunque..:-D..l'organizzazione della sfilata prosegue, ho ricevuto molte richieste di stilisti che vorrebbero partecipare e ho già messo su un team di collaboratori che sono contenti di partecipare a questo evento...incrociamo le dita e quando ci saranno novità sarete i primi in assoluto a saperlo :-).
Quindi..da dove parto?..ci sono molte cose di cui vi volevo parlare..ma credo che sia più giusto oggi rispondere ad alcune delle vostre numerosissime domande, visto che è veramente molto che non vi dedico un post tutto per le vostre curiosità e "ansie" ;-)
- Fare la wedding planner è remunerativo?
Ohi ohi :-D iniziamo subito con la domanda più difficile :-P , beh...a dire la verità non lo è più di altri lavori e soprattutto non lo è ai livelli di una agenzia piccola come la mia anche se devo ammettere che ci sono alcune volte che mi sento molto soddisfatta, ma ci sono anche periodi un po' più ..chiamiamoli bui vah :-). Certo non mi sento di dire che inizi a fare la wp e automaticamente le tue tasche si riempiono..anzi. All'inizio è molto dura quindi aspettatevi periodi di grandi sacrifici e soprattutto cercate di essere costanti e di non mollare mai anche quando vi sembretà che niente vada per il verso giusto. Se lavorate con serietà , le occasioni non mancheranno di farvi valere e di essere contente e orgogliose di voi stesse. Perseveranza ragazzi!
:-D comunque credo che per parlare di grandi guadagni ci vuole tempo e tanta passione...ma non è impossibile.
- Qual'è il prezzo giusto per un trucco sposa?
giusto..:-) oh mamma "giusto" non riesco a concepirlo come termine, ma la vera domanda è "quanto sono disposta a pagare al massimo per un trucco?". C'è chi da molta importanza al fattore make-up e c'è chi invece si trucca un po' da sola o lo fa fare ad alcune amiche. In generale un/una professionista parte da 100,00 fino a 350,00 euro per il trucco sposa con una seduta di prova. Molto dipende dalla fama del truccatore. In realtà ci sono molti truccatori/truccatrici esperti che vi possono aiutare che sono indipendenti dai vari saloni e quindi hanno prezzi inferiori. Chi è di Firenze o in Toscana in generale e ha bisogno, mi contatti che vi do alcuni nominativi.
- Quanto tempo prima dobbiamo venire a Firenze per fare tutti i documenti? (da parte di coppia di americani)
Uno degli errori che spesso viene fatto dalle coppie di stranieri è di prenotare tutta la vacanza (aereo e hotel) prima di sapere questo importante dettaglio..quindi lode a questa intelligente coppia che mi ha posto questa domanda. Tesoro non dovete certo venire due mesi prima, ma una settimana prima è sempre meglio soprattutto perchè nel vostro caso dovete fare anche l'atto notorio in Pretura e sono tutte cose che portano via un po' di mattinate. Considera che l'Ambasciata americana è aperta agli appuntamenti solo due giorni la settimana quindi già questo è un problema non indifferente. La cosa migliore però è sempre contattare la vostra wp per prendere gli appuntamenti e farvi consigliare e guidare affinchè la vostra vacanza sia perfetta.
- Come si costruisce un budget per il nostro matrimonio?
uhmm..:-D allora...di solito le cose sono due: o avete già un massimo di spesa in testa e in base a quello (avendo tutte ben chiare le voci che compongo l'organizzazione del matrimonio) cercate di suddividere quel quantitativo tra tutte le varie spese, oppure se non avete un importo massimo..iniziate con la lista delle cose da fare per organizzare al meglio il vostro giorno e fatevi fare molti preventivi per avere più scelta possibile. Cercate anche fornitori non troppo famosi o anche stranieri , potreste scoprire non solo professionisti di grande qualità ma anche economici...;-) ma se proprio devo tirare l'acqua al mio mulino..ma perchè non sentite una brava wp? Che vi costa almeno chiedere? :-D ho saputo che nessuna delle mie colleghe ne' tantomeno io abbiamo mai mangiato nessuno :-D!!..almeno fino ad ora ;-)

Good morning and good Monday to you all! As I've told you yesterday I must apologize with everyone for my absence from this blog but ..you know..there are times in life when you have to stop and just finish the commitments that you have with complete concentration and to do this you have to think only about that job untill you have finished it in the best way and on time. I thank everyone who have written me during these days asking me if I was ok ..and I have to thank most of all Grazia who called me because she was worried for me..thanks honey! :-D the organization of the bridal shower is continuing and lots of new stilists contacted me to partecipate to this event, I have recruited severals collaborators of mine who will be present at the show with me..so I'm happy that everything is going in the right way, I'll keep you informed with all the news!
Now..:-)..I have so many things to say to you, but I think it's better if I answer to some of the hundreds of questions that you are sending me everyday..it has passed so much time since my last Faqs entry..so here you are:
- Is your job of wedding planner remunerative?
ohi ohi..:-D we begin immediately with the hardest question of all ;-), well...to tell you the truth is not much more remunerative than other jobs, or at least it's not remunerative at the low level of my little little agency :-P, even if I must admit that there are times when I'm really satisfied of what I've achieved and with my earnigns and other times ..let's call then "dark times" when there are less commissions and it's hard to carry on. But this is true for every kind of job I guess. For sure I cannot say that yu can begin the wedding planning activity and immediately you'll have your pocket full of money, you have to work seriously, with passion and with much costance even is when you think that you are going nowhere. Just be patiente and all the rewards will come to you if have been professional and persevering. :-) It takes time for sure, but yur satisfactions will come dears!
- How much is the right price for the bride make-up?
Well.."right" is a strange word for me, because it depends of what and expecially "how much" you think is "right" and "enough". Some brides-to-be give lot of importance to the make-up factor and someone doesn't and prefers to do it by herself or to make it done by her best friend. Generally a professionist goes from 100,00 up to 350,00 euro for the make-up and one test session really depending much from the "name" of the make-up artist. If he/she is a well known pro for sure it will be very expencive to have him/her at your disposal.
There are lots of professionist serious and of great quality who can help you with a perfect service and with a really honest price. Just have a look around you and do not stop to the first estitamed cost you receive.
If there is someone is getting married in Florence or Tuscany in general and is in need , contact me and I can give you some names and numbers of good pros.
- How much time before we have to be in Florence to do all the papers to get married? (from an Us couple)
One of the most common mistake of the foreigner couples is to book everything (flight and hotel ) before knowing this really important thing, so..I have to thank this very clever couple who wants to be sure to do everything in the best way possible! Honey you don't have to be here a couple of months before for sure but a week before could be the right period of time but it really depends on the appointments scheduled that your wp organize for you. There aren't so many documents to prepare but the big problem is that the american embassy is open to appointments only tow days weekly and that's really the main problem. Usually I try to book all the appointments in the same morning so that..yes a very tiring morning indeed! ..but in that way I won't take too much time from your holiday! But please..an advise..ask always to your wp before booking all the other services of the holiday , she can help you organizing your trip in the best way possible.
- How do we create a wedding budget?
uhhmm..usually the options are: you have a maximum amount to spend on your event and you have to split it among all the aspects (and you have to know well which are all the various aspects of a wedding) trying to spread it in the best way possible. Otherwise you don't know right now the total amount of your budget and in that case it's better if you take the list of all the services for your wedding and try to give each one of them a max price starting from a low price and then changing all the services you think deserve a higher budget.
Ask for several estimated costs and not only from the most famous professionists that you know but also from new pros on the market and even foreigners, the quality is high and the price maybe less :-).
;-) but if I have to tell you the truth..why don't you just ask to a wp to help you in this difficult aspects of the organization? I know for sure that no one of my collegues nor me has never eaten anyone ;-)..

:-D ebbene sì..finalmente mi sono decisa a mettere in piedi anche questa idea...magari pazza, ma visto che molte future spose amano poter vedere gli abiti indossati , poter vedere delle novità e soprattutto non doverlo fare necessariamente in un particolare atelier..:-) mi sono decisa a organizzare questa pazzia per le mie sposine.
Quindi se ci fosse la fuori..:-P sì sì dico a voi...qualcuno/a che fa la stilista per cerimonie, che vuol far conoscere i proprio modelli e la propria linea originale , o che conosce qualcuno che può essere interessato..vi comunico che sono a vostra disposizione per poter organizzare una sfilata che si terrà presso una famosa location in Firenze con la presenza di altri operatori del settore in data da stabilirsi.
Con l'occasione invito anche chiunque è interessato a vedere la sfilata a contattarmi.
Lo scopo di questo evento è quello di far conoscere nuove "leve" del mondo della moda e di poter dare l'occasione a tante future spose di visionare le ultime novità sul mercato ed ottenere sconti ed agevolazioni non solo per l'abito, ma anche per quanto riguarda la musica, il catering...e me ;-). Così ci conosciamo e ci facciamo due chiacchere con allegria.

:-D well..yes..finally I'm starting to organize one my crazy ideas..maybe a lot crazy , but I know that lot of brides-to-be (and even other persons) like to partecipate and see these shows to realize how a dress can fit and most of all it will be held outside of a normal boutique of bride dresses :-), so I'm starting to organize even this new hectic idea.
